Once again we are making donations to child and youth charity organizations this year. In addition, we are backing a number of pro bono projects with non-profit organizations that employ resources exactly where they are needed most.
 
We support the following activities, organizations and facilities:

Deutscher Kinderschutzbund
 
For more than 50 years the organization “Deutsche Kinderschutzbund” advocates children’s rights. The key issues are child poverty, violence against chldren and children’s rights. More than 10.000 volunteers and 5.000 full-time responsible-minded workers are involved in the protection work of the Kinderschutzbund on site.

World Vision
 
UNITY conducts a pro bono consulting project for the “christliche Kinderhilfswerk” „World Vision“.
Key issues for the organization are sustainable development work, humanitarian aid and political development advocacy. In Germany World Vision is active since 1979 and is proved and recommended by the “Deutschen Zentralinstitut für soziale Fragen” (DZI). Internationally, World Vision keeps official business alliances to the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF and has consultant status for the refugee commissariat (UNHCR).

Rotary Club – The School Project
 
Rotary is an organization with participants of all kinds of occupation groups. They incorporate worldwide to do humanitarian service and to advocate for freedom and international understanding.
UNITY supports the “School Project” of the Rotary Club Paderborn: The main perception of the PISA-Studies is – the schools in Germany are not particularly bad, but the amount of weak students in Germany is especially high. Therefore, the goal has to be to decrease the amount of the weak ones. 45 booster clubs of Elementary, Secondary Modern- and Special Needs Schools in Paderborn applied for the participation in this School Project. An expert panel selected five particularly promotion worthy project out of the received applications. Each of the projects will be promoted with 20.000 Euro for five years by the Rotary Club. In addition, each booster club gets a Rotarian friend on its side as a mentor to help realize the project and collect further donations.

Dolphin-Therapy for children
 
Lina suffers from an uncommon genetic defect, the so called angelman syndrome. This is mostly seen in her mental development. A dolphin therapy can help and encourage her, especially when she is still young. The therapy can help to improve her communication and motoric skills, so that walking or communication will be possible one day with the help of sign language or computers with voice synthesizer. UNITY also supports Lina with a donation to enable this therapy.
The twins Emma and Ella were preterm neonates. Because of complications during the delivery the two have substantial interferences of their health. During the last years, a dolphin therapy could help them to an amazing progress in their development. UNIY supports the family with a donation to enable the subsequent therapy.

Don Bosco Kindergarten Büren
 
The Don Bosco Kindergarten in Büren cares for disabled and not disabled children at the same time. The goal of this institution is to encourage and extend the children’s social competences. This is possible, among others, with the help of Motopaedie, the holistic method for children, teenagers and adults, who are especially affected by deranged sensomotoric and psychomotoric functions of their locomotor behavior, their performance and their social behavior.

Swiss Mountain Aid
 
The Swiss Mountain Aid is an organization exclusively financed with donations. Their goal is the improvement of the means of existence and the living conditions of the Swiss alpine region. They encourage the self help of the alpine population. Hence, they help to sustain the economical areas and biospheres, the regional culture, to care for he cultural landscape and work against emigration.

Training Center for orphans in Thailand
 
For several years an initiative in Paderborn is successfully building children’s villages for orphans in the poor and underdeveloped uplands in the north of Thailand. The support of UNITY helps to build up a Training Center for the adolescents to develop technical skills. Therefore, it is guaranteed that the children have a perspective after school.
The Rotary Club Bad Driburg and UNITY finance the necessary equipment for the Training Center.

Ferdi-Kallmeyer-Stiftung (FKS)
 
Ferdi Kallmeyer, at last Professor of Electrical Engineering at the FH Dortmund and founder of Smart Mechatronics died in February 2008 in a tragic accident. The foundation was founded after his death and supports on the one hand the healthcare self help of the genetic disease „Morbus Recklinghausen“. And on the other hand they bestow the Ferdi-Kallmeyer-Award in a university context every year to acknowledge outstanding achievements in engineering.

Children Charity Organization „Plan Deutschland“
 
UNITY supports “Plan Deutschland” in the context of a consulting project. The scheme is an international Children Charity Organization that works in developing countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America and also advocates the rights of children. Children are the center of the program work. This is mostly financed by sponsorship with the goal to strengthen the girls and boys on a long term with programs and projects that improve their living environment.
